Section 1 — What data we collect
Depending on how you interact with us, we may collect:
When you apply or get in touch: name, email address, artist/project name, links to your music, and the answers you give in our application or enquiry forms (including details about your production experience and your project).
If you become a client: billing name and email (via Stripe — we never see or store your card details), the audio files and stems you submit, project briefs and notes, call recordings or notes from Calendly bookings, and any messages exchanged through your Notion workspace.
When you browse the site: standard technical data collected automatically by Squarespace — IP address, browser type, pages visited, and cookies. See the Cookies section below.
We don’t knowingly collect any special category data (health, religion, etc.) and this service isn’t directed at anyone under 18.
Section 2 — Why we process it, and our legal basis
Reviewing your application and deciding whether to offer you a place — legitimate interests (running a selective service).
Delivering the subscription service you’ve paid for, including feedback, production and calls — performance of a contract.
Taking payment and keeping financial records — contract and legal obligation.
Replying to enquiries — legitimate interests.
Site analytics and improving the site — legitimate interests.
Occasional updates or offers, if you’ve opted in — consent.
Section 3 — Who we share it with
We use a small number of trusted tools to run the business. Each only sees the data it needs to do its job:
Squarespace — hosts the website and contact/application forms.
Stripe — processes subscription payments; handles your card details directly, we never see them.
Typeform, where used — collects application answers.
Google Drive — stores the stems and files you submit.
Highnote — hosts audio feedback and finished mixes.
Notion — your private client workspace, used for project comms.
Calendly — books and manages monthly calls.
Several of these providers are based in or process data in the United States. Where that’s the case, they do so under their own GDPR-compliant safeguards, such as standard contractual clauses or an equivalent UK-approved mechanism. We don’t sell or rent your data to anyone, and we don’t share it with third parties for their own marketing.
We may also share data where required by law — for example with HMRC for tax purposes, or if legally compelled.
Section 4 — How long we keep it
Applications that don’t proceed: deleted or anonymised within 12 months.
Active clients: kept for the duration of the working relationship.
Former clients: financial records are kept for 6 years as required by UK tax law. Project files and creative work are kept for as long as reasonably needed for reference, then deleted on request or after a reasonable period of inactivity.
Section 5 — Your rights
Under UK GDPR you can ask us to:
Give you a copy of the personal data we hold on you.
Correct anything that’s inaccurate.
Delete your data, subject to our legal obligations, e.g. financial records.
Restrict or object to how we use it.
Provide your data in a portable format.
To exercise any of these, email studio@jamiesellers.com. We’ll respond within a month.
If you’re unhappy with how we’ve handled your data, you can complain to the UK’s data protection regulator, the Information Commissioner’s Office, at ico.org.uk.
Section 6 — Cookies
The site uses cookies for basic functionality and analytics, set by Squarespace. You can control or block cookies through your browser settings. Blocking some cookies may affect how the site works.
Section 7 — Changes to this policy
We may update this policy occasionally, for example if we add a new tool to the workflow. The “last updated” date at the top will always reflect the latest version.
